Our Stallion INVESTED BY FAR has a very special place in our family's heart. As a newborn, he was cursed with failure of passive transfer of antibodies in his mom's colostrum. As a result, he became septic at a few days of age, resulting in his mother's milk depletion.
"BR" was the little engine that could. I took him warm milk and said "please, for me". He drank. Never looked back. He had an IV line stitched in for the better part of four months, as the amount of antibiotics and steroids were endless. Never fussed, put his ears back, not once. He laid on Heidi's lap for his IV infusions. The IV site scar is visable on the left side of his neck in the picture to the right - it is there to remind us what he went through.
He waxed and waned for the better part of 10 months, with his first solid BM at 8 months. Only we could celebrate that one!
The rest is history.
The sight of him winning two APHA World titles in his three year old year was beyond description. The video I took could make one nauseous because of the sobbing I did as he walked up for his awards! There was no better way to thank us for what we did for him.
It gets only better. To date, he has had only three foals, two of which also became World Champions. The third was bred to be a rider, and he is our South Dakota Triathalon futurity Champion. He is a keeper also! He is for Heidi, Scott, and their kids.
He is a gentleman when he breeds, the Veternarian tells us his semen is exceptional. What more could we want?
We would like to thank Rebecca Rink, DVM, for if it wasn't for her we wouldn't have our "BR". Also, thanks to Kevin Hood and his daughters, who saw the potential in him and made him what he is. Finally, to Heidi for representing our horses so well. Kathy
